What you do in the morning can set the tone for what happens until you go back to bed. Many people begin their day unconscious as what type of day they are creating. They roll out of bed and hit the ground running not being fully present or conscious of what it is they are trying to create for themselves in your day. Incorporating empowering morning rituals into your day not only sets the tone for your day but also allows you to create the day that you really want to create.
Mornings are a busy time for many families just getting everyone out of the door on time. Mothers and Fathers both are stressed with getting little ones up, out and ready. Maintaining a schedule and energy of peace, calm, and relaxation can help shift a chaotic morning into a peaceful one. I know what you are thinking, I must not have children. In actuality, I do and my children have been no different from yours in the sense that they follow my lead. If I woke up in a hurry, frantic, and rushing out the door it seems like those were the days they took their time and had more, mom wait more minute to cause more franticness. Even still, if I paused and took a breath, planning more time than even I thought I needed they were ready to go in only a few minutes flat.
On the other hand, you and your kids may be spending your days at home with everyone on top of each other. That can be just as stressful as commuting, especially if you’re concerned about your health, finances, as well as work/life balance.
The specific habits you choose will depend on your values and goals. Start small and have fun experimenting. Consider these ideas for morning rituals designed to help you set the tone for your day.
Empowering Morning Rituals for Your Body:
1.)Skip the snooze button. Do you feel groggy even after 8 hours of sleep? The trouble could be your snooze button. It interrupts your body’s natural waking process. That can cause sleep inertia that lasts for hours. When you want to wake up without hesitation it is best to wake up and get out of bed immediately. This way you do not lag or fall back to sleep.
2.)Drink water. You may want to postpone your first cup of coffee. Plain water will rehydrate your organs and make you feel more alert. You can add a little flavor with berries, herbs, or cucumber slices. It is best to drink a minimum of half of your body weight in water daily for proper hydration.
3.)Eat breakfast. You also need to refuel. Enjoy a balanced meal of traditional breakfast foods or heat up some leftovers. Smart choices include Greek yogurt with fruit or a fish taco. After a long night of fasting it is best to eat protein an hour upon waking to stabilize the blood sugar.
4.)Work out. Complete your main exercise session or move around a little, especially if you’ll be sitting at a computer for hours. Choose an activity that you love, like yoga or swimming. Exercise can invigorate the cells and add fresh oxygenated blood back into the system for healing.
5.)Weigh yourself. If you’re trying to lose excess weight, stepping on the scale each day may help. Keep in mind that daily fluctuations are natural, so look for upward or downward trends.This can hold yourself accountable to your diet, especially when done first thing in the morning.
6.)Go outdoors. Morning light wakes up your body and starts a hormone cycle that prepares you for restful sleep at night. Sit on your patio or bike to work. Getting moving, while breathing in all of the fresh air can help the lungs as well as the body heal.
Empowering Morning Rituals for Your Mind:
1.)Avoid technology. Resist the urge to lose yourself in social media. Turn off your phone or check for urgent messages only. Make a habit of not grabbing your phone as soon as you wake up, instead put some distance between you and your phone until you have stared your day.
2.)Be prepared. Starting on tasks the night before can make your mornings more pleasant. Lay out your clothes and pack your briefcase. Doing all of the activities necessary for a smooth day such as preparing your lunch ahead of time, or setting your belongings by the door for easy grabbing out the door.
3.)Meditate and pray. Nourish your spirituality. If you’re a beginner, start with a few minutes of meditation and build up your time gradually. This is an excellent way to begin your day, and set the tone for the day. Even a few minutes of meditation can go a long way in the process of setting the tone for your day.

Bond with and connect with your family either by eating breakfast with them or encouraging them out of the door can fill you up what love and gratitude.
6.)Cultivate gratitude. Count your blessings. Think of someone who you need to thank today. Focus on all of the things to be grateful for in your life, in your day and in your world. This can help you to focus on the positive instead of the negative.
7.)Continue learning. You could use your mornings to complete your degree online or study more informally. Listen to history and economics podcasts. Read high quality fiction or nonfiction. Carving out a time in the day to set the tone for openness and education can help open up your mind to learning and taking on new things for the day.
8.)Have a project. Do you struggle to find time for yourself? The early hours may be an opportunity to engage your personal passions or expand your side gig. This is also a time that is quiet and easy. This time can be an excellent time to bond with yourself and your hobbies free from distraction.
9.)Listen to music. Research shows that listening to music reduces anxiety and enhances mental alertness and memory. Put together a personal playlist or turn on your favorite radio station. Create playlists that sets the tone and the mood for the day. Want to feel excited? Want to feel joyful? Perhaps create a playlist that embodies what you want to feel in your day and start your day boogying.
10.)Plan your day. Set goals and block out your time. Otherwise, external events can keep you from focusing on your true priorities. Remember to leave yourself adequate downtime for refreshing breaks. This is a time management tool such as block scheduling, which is a way to organize your time and your day to create productivity.
Kick off your day with a morning routine that will make you feel more productive and fulfilled. Adopt positive habits and jump out of bed with a smile.
