Basal Body Temperature

Basal Body Temperature

Basal body temperature is the temperature of your body at rest. It is set by the thyroid hormones which regulate the amount of energy (heat) available to your cells. You want just the right amount!

Basal body temperature can indicate if your thyroid function is normal or not. When the body is not healthy enough to regulate heat, it can make your temperature rise as a result. This will happen in hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid) and hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid).
